Did you know that studies show that forest bathing can improve your mood much more than walking in the city?
Here are my 3 simple steps to forest bathing with the family.
STEP 1 - Leave it all behind
We have a saying in our family, we leave only footprints and take only pictures - but if you can forget your phone, EVEN BETTER!
We live our lives by technology; forest bathing is about getting away from it all, even if it's only for a couple of hours. This isn't about counting steps; this isn't about reaching the summit; this about wandering through the trees.
STEP 2 - Leave it ALL behind
90% of the time, when we go forest bathing as a family, it's because tensions are high and people are in negative moods, and someone suggests we go for a walk to clear our heads. If there were bad feelings, leave them behind.
Step 3 - Remember they are kids.
I know, ideally, you want to be quiet in the trees and get the full effects, but if you demand total silence, you'll only frustrate your kids (especially young ones).
Don't feel you have to enforce a no-talking rule. But as long as you're comfortable and still have your kids in sight, let them wander a little way away and get the stillness and quiet you're craving.
